Cross Out Cancer 5k- 2016

Today I oversaw the Pure Project Booth at the Cross Out Cancer 5k, where I also walked part of the 5k with friends and family. The run and organization was founded by a fellow classmate of mine Lizzie Dolan. For me going to the run was more than just a way to expose and advertise who we are, it was about seeing someone’s dream to help others become reality. Lizzie and her team were able to put their minds together and raise almost $60,000 to help childhood cancer.  This is what amazes me, the community coming together just to help others out. We can say that our goal is to raise x amount of money to buy x amount of BioSand Filters by a certain date, but this means nothing without backing. Which is why I’m setting the goal for The Pure Project Community to come together and achieve greatness.

To all those I spoke to today, thank you. And also a very warm thanks to Lizzie Dolan and the Cross Out Cancer Team for allowing us to participate in a such a wonderful and awe-inspiring day.

Sincerely,

Meredith Butler

The Devastation of Hurricane Matthew and the people of Haiti

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families victimized by Hurricane Matthew. As of now, the total death toll in Haiti is over 800 people. For a country like Haiti, everyday solutions are not present. 28,000 homes have been damaged in Haiti which will take years to rebuild. We need to take a stand now and change the lives of Haitians. Nearly after every storm, there is damage but somewhere around there is a rainbow. We can be the rainbow here and help innocent people. After a natural disaster like a hurricane the first thing destroyed is access to clean water. Go to our donate page now to help us create a solution for the access to clean water in Haiti. #bethedifference #cleanwaterforhaiti#hurricanematthew

We'd like to add in a little bit about The Pure Project here. Haiti already has so little and we are working on changing that. The Pure Project originated as a small service group but now it is something so much more. I am very proud of what we have accomplished. We will be in contact to hear the status of our partners in Haiti. Right now all we can do is pray and hope that this devastation will open people's eyes to the rich culture but poverty of Haiti.

Thank you for your prayers,

Ashley Achin

ST PETERSBURG AMBASSADORS RAISE LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY THROUGH BAKE SALE

Everyone loves baked goods, but how much do people love baked goods when they're for a good cause? A heck of a lot. When our St. Pete High Ambassadors wanted to raise money for The Pure Project, the brainstorming process became harder then they thought it would be. A lot of people are crazy busy and attending different fundraisers can be hard without the proper exposure. So, they came up with the idea of a bake sale! With a school of over 1000 students, a bake sale is possibly the best idea out there.

Lea Flynn and Shelby Figueroa planned a bake sale through their club for The Pure Project and made it into an absolute success. By hosting  a simple bake sale, they raised hundreds of dollars for The Pure Project and for that, we could not be more grateful. Having a strong team is hard to find but Lea and Shelby make it that much easier for us. The Pure Project loves each and every one of our team members and could not be more grateful for the support and hard work we have received from them.

Last week, we hosted a Yogurtology Fundraiser and it was a total success! If you would like to learn more about it, you can check out our feature on Achona, Academy of the Holy Names Online Newspaper here: http://www.achonaonline.com/academy/2016/09/23/pure-project-and-yogurtology-team-up-to-help-haiti/

We will be posting an update soon with some photos from the event but for now, here's a sneak peak at it. Thank you Yogurtology for being so amazing and allowing us to raise awareness for the people of Haiti!

See you next week,

The Pure Project Team

The Pure Project Receives Grant from Local Women’s Club

The Pure Project Team is happy to announce that we received the $500 Club Member Grant from The North Pinellas Women’s Club in June 2016! The generous funds have been put towards our goal of $20,000 to provide 200 bio-sand filters for the people of Cite De Soleil, Haiti.

Our team was recommended for this grant in May by Club member Cassandra Blakely, aunt of The Pure Project Co-founder Meredith Butler. After a pitch about our cause and much deliberation among the supportive women of the The North Pinellas Women’s Club, The Pure Project became proud recipients of the $500 Club Member Grant.

The Team would like to thank the North Pinellas Women’s Club for this amazing opportunity of growth and exposure. As donations come closer to our goal of $20,000, The Pure Project holds all benefactors and sponsors close to our heart and remembers the positive influence so many strong members of the Tampa Bay community have had on our growing team.

We are so excited about this opportunity and the results that will come of the support for Haitians that so desperately need clean water. The Pure Project Team appreciates all that the North Pinellas Women’s Club has done for us and we are eager to further our work with them in the future.

As always, thank you for your continual support for our organization and the people in need in Cite de Soleil, Haiti.

Warm Regards,

The Pure Project Team

Hello everyone!

The Pure Project Team and I are very excited to announce that today is World Water Day! Since providing Haitians with clean water is the focus of our non-profit, this day means a lot to us.

The team and I came up with a list of fun things to do today to help keep the Haitians we are helping in mind while having a great day!
